Requirement
Upload application documents through TEACH-AK, including official degree transcripts, preparation verification, the current regular source certificate, experience evidence and training verification. Fingerprint cards are the exception and must be mailed to the department.
Which application this evidence supports
Alaska separates newer educators from experienced holders of a regular out-of-state certificate, with a two-year experience threshold for the Professional Out-of-State Teacher Certificate.
What can change this answer
At least two years of teaching under a current regular out-of-state certificate supports the two-year Professional Out-of-State route; an educator below that experience threshold uses Alaska's Initial route and must meet its testing requirements.
Conditions to resolve before sending records
- •A regular source certificate must be renewable and based on a bachelor's degree, approved preparation and clinical experience
- •Restricted, provisional, emergency, substitute and temporary credentials do not qualify as regular certificates
- •The source credential must still be current when Alaska employment begins
- •K-3 assignments require the Alaska Reads Act K-3 Teacher endorsement
