How to find the right Texas record

  1. 1Enter both the educator's first and last name.
  2. 2Use the name as it appears in the TEA database; a nickname or former name may not match.
  3. 3Open the certificate result to see current credentials and any certificate history available.

TEA says the official record date at the bottom of a virtual certificate should show the current date. Refresh or clear browser data if an older record date appears.

Issued certificate vs. pending application

The public lookup is the issued-certificate record. A pending application belongs in the educator's private TEAL/ECOS account, where TEA shows application and fee status.

Why can't I find a Texas teaching certificate?

Can I use the public lookup to check a pending application?

The public lookup is the issued-certificate record. A pending application belongs in the educator's private TEAL/ECOS account, where TEA shows application and fee status.

Does a Texas certificate automatically transfer to another state?

No. The destination agency decides which credential, endorsements, tests and remaining conditions apply. An issued source license is evidence for that application, not an automatic transfer.
