What the public record can answer
Michigan Department of Education
- 01
All valid and expired Michigan certificates and licenses
- 02
Valid temporary credentials, including permits, career authorizations and approvals
- 03
The educator's PIC and credential status when available
Record timing
Michigan says public credential data is refreshed nightly. Expired temporary credentials from previous school years are excluded even though valid temporary credentials appear.
If the search comes up empty
Check these before you stop
- •Try the credential number or PIC instead of a name when one is available.
- •Expired temporary credentials from prior school years do not appear in the public results.
- •Use the private MOECS account for an application, renewal or endorsement that has not issued.
Issued certificate vs. pending application
MOECS lets educators apply, renew and view their own certification data after signing in. The public result is refreshed nightly and should not be used as a same-day application tracker.
