What this check covers
Three different certificate goals
EX Mathematics Secondary 6–12
For a valid or expired non-interim Michigan teaching certificate holder completing an approved EX additional endorsement program and MTTC 022.
Standard to Professional
Checks the learning or degree option, reading requirements, three qualifying teaching years, and MOECS request. No new MTTC applies.
ES School Administrator
For an approved traditional program with a master’s degree, supervised internship, provider recommendation, and MTTC 139 when the provider processes the application on or after August 31, 2026.
Other Michigan paths
Use Michigan’s full guidance for a different path
Other endorsements, alternate administrator paths, out-of-state applications, and certificate types outside these three goals need their own requirements.
Michigan certification questions
Can an expired Standard certificate progress to Professional?
Yes, Michigan allows the Standard certificate to be valid or expired when you apply. The three qualifying teaching years must have occurred while the certificate was valid and not lapsed.
Does the Professional certificate require another MTTC?
No new MTTC applies to the reviewed Standard-to-Professional path. The learning, reading, teaching, documentation, and MOECS requirements still apply.
Can an earlier School Administrator test result still count?
A result marked “Met the Minimum Requirement” from before August 31, 2026 may be used for up to five years from the test date. Later testing must meet the Phase 2 passing score of 220.
