Enter eligible learning in MOECS before applying. A district may have a separate permit option while the renewal is pending.

Standard, Professional and Advanced Professional certificates keep their ordinary level-specific renewal requirements after expiration.

Michigan imposes no state-level late penalty for an ordinary lapse, but a district cannot employ someone under an expired certificate without another appropriate authorization.

SCECHs count hour for hour and one semester credit equals 25 hours. Six semester credits equal 150 hours. Learning must be completed since the most recent certificate was issued.

A certificate expired in June 2020 or earlier may qualify for a district-requested Welcome Back waiver. It is not automatic, and counselor-specific hours cannot be waived.
