Requirement

A CEAS holder seeks qualifying employment, the hiring district requests the provisional certificate and the teacher completes the Provisional Teacher Process before Standard certification. The candidate cannot apply directly for the provisional certificate; it can remain valid through July 31 of the second year and be renewed once.

New Jersey maps an out-of-state instructional credential to an equivalent certificate type, subject and grade level, with experience and testing determining whether the result is a Standard certificate or a CEAS pathway.

Plan for the out-of-state certificate, preparation or student-teaching evidence when applicable, employer-completed Record of Professional Experience and evidence satisfying physiology and hygiene.
