Public certificate information

Search in NYSED's public Certificate Holder Lookup. TeachPassport never receives the name entered or the page returned.

Authorized school access

NYSED says school employers can use secure TEACH access for official duties. Authorized users must follow NYSED's permission, access and disclosure terms.

Course-to-certificate question

Open the current NYS Course Catalog and SCED crosswalk for the school's own review. The crosswalk and active NYSED information are inputs, not a TeachPassport decision.

Older record not found

NYSED has separate instructions for certificates issued before 1983 that may not appear in TEACH. The certificate holder completes that route.

The boundary

A routing aid, not an employer decision

TeachPassport does not search anyone’s name, return a named report or rate what the official system shows.

TeachPassport does not decide whether someone may be hired or whether a certificate covers a course.

Secure TEACH users must obtain required permission, keep credentials private and follow NYSED’s rule against downloading or reproducing secure system data.
